Selena Gomez gets red carpet

Selena Gomez always feels nervous on the red carpet.

The singer-and-actress who is dating Justin Bieber admits being in the spotlight doesn’t “come naturally” to her and she gets butterflies in her stomach when she attends glitzy events.

“I am [a normal girl next door],” Selena said. “I can still walk down the street, so in that respect I’m quite lucky. But some things in my life don’t come naturally, like walking the red carpet.

“It’s pretty scary! It’s not that I’m not confident in myself, it’s just that the red carpet is not somewhere I feel totally comfortable.”

Just as she isn’t happy on the red carpet, Selena also admits she finds touring tough, especially when she is on her own in hotel rooms.

“It’s hard, especially when I’m in a hotel room by myself, thousands of miles away from the people I love,” she said. “Of course it’s difficult. I miss all the people I love, my family and my friends, when I’m away from home.

“Thank goodness for Skype, I don’t know what people did before it!”

However, the Tell Me Something I Don’t Know singer realizes how lucky she is to have her career and says when she’s feeling lonely, rather than mope around, she uses the time to relax and forget about work.

“At those times I remind myself that I’m so lucky to be doing what I’m doing, When I feel like that I just go and run a hot bubble bath and relax,” she said.
