Jodie Foster sympathizes with today's young stars

Jodie Foster feels sorry for today’s young stars.
The Oscar winning actress grew up in the public eye to become one of Hollywood’s top leading ladies. Now she finds herself looking sympathetically on the likes of Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence.
“These actresses are amazing,” she says. “They’re great, and their feet are firmly entrenched in drama, which is very nice to see. It is definitely an answer to all those people who say being a young actress in Hollywood will make you crazy. These are very well-adjusted people we’re talking about.
“Their experiences will be very different from mine; it was a different world when I was growing up. News and entertainment were two different compartments, you didn’t have the mad reality show mentality about celebrities then, and actresses that were 17 or 18 weren’t really worth a lot, financially. It’s only recently that young actresses have become a hot commodity in film.”
Jodie recently revealed she feels she has “freedom” since splitting from her long-term girlfriend.
The 48-year-old actress-turned-director who has sons Charles, 12, and Kit, nine, with an unknown father separated from Cydney Bernard almost three years ago and though she admits it was one of the most “horrible” events that could have rocked her life, she embraced the opportunity it gave her.
“There are three terrible things that happen to most people,” Jodie said. “One is your parents face death, the second is your kids grow up and leave you and the third is that the relationship you’ve been in forever disintegrates and you’re alone.
“They’re three horrible things, but they are also these three freedoms like, ‘You’re free!’. It’s an opportunity, it’s a sliver of opportunity. I feel like you have 10 seconds to really embrace the freedom, or just get stuck. Ten seconds to take that sliver and change your life.”
